The corners are reinforced with heavy steel grommets and individual spring-steel clips lock four tempered-steel bows into place, making the umbrella rigid yet easy to open and close. The main upright sturdy shaft is 1-1/4 inch steel tubing, with chrome and zinc coating to resist corrosion. Ball-and-socket joint permits the operator to tilt the umbrella to any angle or to swing it to any position within a full circle.
